Vertical Paintings

June 27, 2012

I’ve been developing another serial studio project in watercolor and acrylic, similar to the Miami Paintings of last year.

“Vertical Paintings” explores a range of vocabulary in combination, but this time it’s vertical. Most walls run horizontally, as do most computer screens, and most letters in sequence (while thinking of combining vocab). Nearly everything I’ve done with the MOMO Maker process till now, has been horizontal.  So I was curious.

I spent some months developing new visual elements and tools, like a set of disks painted with color samples to be shuffled manually.  The usual MOMO Maker html scripts previewed whole combinations so I could think about engineering the parts.  Custom acetate guides registered forms in pencil onto paper.

Then each was rendered in watercolor and acrylic. (cc) by nc nd 2017 MOMO
