Solo Show this Saturday

July 11, 2013

Drinks, DJs, and a couple months worth of work at the headquarters for great food/people/beaches/charm, and that funny Studiocromie/Fame Fest feeling: Grottaglie, Italy!

I really like this one.  Part of the Hecho en Oaxaca show, expertly assisted by Kelly and Sean.

I just finished my installation at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Oaxaca (MACO).  The show looks great…

For festival Milestone. I had a really good time.  Thank Boris Hoppek for these photos – (& see his work with tape and trash bags – I can’t get enough.  Here’s a “making of” –

We also made kites. This one is based on a design that a six year old in Jamaica had explained to us in March.  How amazing is seeing a small child’s ideas transfer around the world and into the air.

If you haven’t heard, I’m in the middle of something with Angelo of Fame Fest.

We’ve been to Cuba and Jamaica, and now two months in Grottaglie Italy, creating a show to open July 13th. It will be very special.

We’ve had some tremendous help so far. So thanks to everyone that made this possible. Full elaborate documentation, embarrassing video, soundtracks, and details later on. If you’d like to come to the show, get in touch!

AR Wynwood

January 16, 2013

Re+Public published two new videos demonstrating recent work with their Augmented Reality app at the Wynwood Walls in Miami, and the Bowery/Houston wall in NY.

What they’re doing here hints at wild possibilities.  I was able to work with them in Miami, and wish we had months not weeks to try everything out and play with it. Thinking about how this works is like witnessing a new “internet” open up where nothing existed.  The motivation for Re+Public is to crash this emerging understanding of a new public space with art and creative open ended purposes, before commercial and legal interests clog the discourse.  You can read more from Public Ad Campaign, one of two collaborators behind Re+Public, the other being The Heavy Projects.

There’s five functioning murals in the Wynwood compound, mine is inside their Nicelook Gallery.

See their second video at Bowery Houston here.

Exercise No.1

December 17, 2012

The first part of a collaboration with Eltono in Besançon, France.

Two artists install bits of found wood with a hand saw and rubber mallet, into 52 cellar door and window spaces particular to Besançon, France. Using only tension to hold these in place, they demonstrate a variety of arrangement possibilities across a range of spaces in the city. The results may go unnoticed (as artwork) until enough are recognized and associated as such.

We were inspired largely by the types of urban modifications, barriers, and repairs on buildings that demonstrate odd solutions, curious physics, or appear to be total mysteries.  So we titled this “Improbables”, French for Improbables.
